Welcome to Mahouts Foundation and our Bushcraft with Elephants experience.
Following our recent walk HOME we now have three elephants settled and living happily deep in the forest.
We are now running the FIRST Bushcraft with Elephants course from Saturday 27th February through to Friday 4th March.
PLEASE NOTE; THIS IS A ONCE A YEAR PROGRAM. TO VISIT THE VILLAGE AND ELEPHANTS AT ANY TIME OF THE YEAR PLEASE FOLLOW THE LINK BELOW TO ELEPHANT COMMUNITY PROJECT.
Booking onto this course will enable you to spend time with a host family in the village. Spend 5 days living out in their large conservation forests, learning from the Karen as they teach you the skills that have allowed them to live in harmony with their surroundings for generations. The elephants are living a semi wild existence roaming and foraging in the forest. We will be able to track the elephants, watch them foraging and bathing in the river and learn about their behaviour from the Karen community.
We will spend our evenings cooking over fires and camping out in the forest. Also learning to use machetes and the many ways they use bamboo for every day living, learning how they track and live off the land.
The area is abundent with wildlife, being deep in the forest we will often hear the gibbons hooting, a beautiful sound that echoes throughout the forest.
Mahouts Elephant Foundation is a UK registered charity supporting elephants and their Mahouts in Thailand. We work to raise awareness to highlight the damage that
tourism brings to elephants and to create sustainable alternatives to elephant camps, which are full of working captive elephants and their mahouts.
Tents and hammocks will be provided.
The trip includes:
- Private transportation to and from Chiang Mai.
- All meals included for the duration of the trip.
- Home stay fee in the village.
- Professional English speaking guide.
- Local guide and team fee.
- National Park fee.
- Donation for the elephant fund.
Thank you so much for your support in our work.
